Stonebwoy is heading to the big screen. The dancehall star features on “Wrong Toes”, a new song on the official soundtrack of the upcoming Hollywood action comedy Boyz Trip, alongside American recording artist Mashanda Faust and Atlanta-based group Hero The Band. The collaboration was announced on Wednesday, 28 October.
As reported by MyJoyOnline and the Ghana News Agency, citing information from the film’s production company, KeyScott Entertainment, the official music video for “Wrong Toes” was filmed at Cape Town Film Studios in South Africa, with award-winning creative director Warren Gray leading the creative direction.
The song was written by Alan Key and Faten El Sayed. Key came up with the original concept, while Kyle Scott led its creative development and execution, working with Mashanda Faust on the song’s musical direction. It is part of a collection of original music being developed for the film through KeyScott Entertainment’s new music division.
Boyz Trip stars Desi Banks, Rome Flynn, Algee Smith and South African actor Siv Ngesi. Set in Cape Town, the film follows four longtime college friends who reunite for an international holiday, only for the trip to spiral into chaos when they become entangled in the dangerous world of a notorious criminal known as Le Serpent.
The film is executive produced by Alan Key and Kyle Scott, co-founders of the Brisbane-based KeyScott Entertainment, with Scott also directing. Autumn Bailey-Ford is lead producer, Sarsha Venord and Jamez T. are co-producers, and Ghanaian actress Ama K. Abebrese is among the associate producers, alongside Lya Castillo and Shayla Hill.
Boyz Trip is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in 2027, with official release dates expected early that year. The producers are planning premiere events in Cape Town, Atlanta, London, Los Angeles and Brisbane, and further details on the soundtrack and music releases are expected ahead of the launch.
For Stonebwoy, the project puts his blend of Afrobeats, reggae and dancehall in front of cinema audiences across Africa, North America, Europe and Australia. A release date for “Wrong Toes” itself has not yet been announced.
