The Hogbetsotso Beach Concert featuring Shatta Wale, billed as HRM Togbi Sri III’s official concert for Sunday, 8 November, has been cancelled. TV3 Ghana shared the notice on Sunday afternoon in a post on X, saying the show “originally scheduled to take place today, Sunday 8th November 2026, has been CANCELLED.”
The announcement is accompanied by the official concert artwork, branded “HRM Togbi Sri III, Official Concert” and “Hogbetsotso Beach Concert”, with a large red “Cancelled” stamp across a poster that names Shatta Wale and the date of Sunday, 8 November 2026. The post does not give a reason for the cancellation, or say whether the show will be rearranged.
The concert had been one of the main entertainment bookings of this year’s Anlo Hogbetsotso festival weekend. The Ghana News Agency reported on 5 November that Shatta Wale would headline the Hogbetsotso Sunday Beach Concert at Eli Beach Resort and Hotel in Tegbi, a day after Stonebwoy and MzVee were billed at Lalana Beach in Anloga. 3News also listed the Sunday booking at Eli Beach ahead of Saturday’s grand durbar in Anloga.
Hogbetsotso, the annual festival of the Anlo people, is centred on Anloga in the Volta Region and is celebrated on the first Saturday of November. This year’s theme, as reported by GNA, is “Anlo, Our Heritage and Our Values: Striving to Build One Ghana for a Better Tomorrow.” Entertainment has become a bigger part of the weekend in recent editions, with the beach concerts drawing visitors alongside the traditional durbar.
GNA also reported that EdemFest, which had been planned for Saturday, 7 November at Emancipation Beach, was postponed by organisers Volta Regime Music Group, who said a strategic opportunity had emerged and a new date would be announced later.
Sunday’s notice from TV3 does not explain why the show was called off, or whether it will be rearranged. What do you make of this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
