Joy 99.7 FM has unveiled its line-up for the 2026 Christmas and New Year season, and this year there is something new on the calendar. On Monday, 2 November, the station announced four events running from 13 December to 1 January 2027, including a brand-new Christmas Eve party called Colours of Christmas.
As reported by MyJoyOnline, the events will be held at venues in Accra and Aburi, offering a mix of carols, family fun, music and end-of-year celebrations.
Colours of Christmas is the headline addition. It takes place on Thursday, 24 December, at Labadi Beach, and patrons are being asked to turn up dressed in their Christmas colours. Joy FM teased the event in a post on X, promising “music, food, fun and unforgettable vibes” from 7pm “till you drop”.
According to a separate MyJoyOnline report, the station is pitching it as the official Christmas party of the year, adding a colourful twist to the traditional Christmas Eve celebration.
The season opens with Joy FM’s annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Sunday, 13 December, at 3pm at the Labadi Beach Hotel’s Omanye Hall. The programme combines scripture readings and the story of the birth of Jesus Christ with carols and gospel music. Last year’s edition featured Perez Musik, Queendalyn, Pastor Ella Somuah and the Grace Chorale, with comedy from Jeneral Ntatia, and was hosted by Fifi Folson and Jacinta Ocansey.
On Boxing Day, Saturday 26 December, the Family Party in the Park returns to the Aburi Botanical Gardens from 9am. Past editions have featured sack races, cooking competitions, dancing contests and treasure hunts, as well as live music and highlife and jama sessions.
The festivities close with the return of 90s Jam on Friday, 1 January 2027, at Pleasant Gardens, running from 8pm to 4am. The event celebrates classic highlife, early hiplife, hip-hop, R&B, reggae and dancehall from the decade, and regularly draws crowds in retro outfits. The January 2026 edition was also held at Pleasant Gardens.
Joy FM has not yet announced performers or ticket details for this year’s events.
