Mr Eazi has publicly called on Shatta Wale to set aside time to finish the joint album the two have long talked about. Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, the Nigerian singer and entrepreneur said he has not forgotten the project, but admitted that busy schedules have kept them from getting it done.
“Shatta Wale, if you’re watching this right now, I just want to tell you that I’m not forgotten. We’re supposed to produce the album, so we need to link up. Let’s link up and finish the album,” he said, as reported by Adomonline.
According to Mr Eazi, the pair still communicate, but the record cannot be made remotely. “For me to produce a Shatta Wale album, me and Shatta Wale have to be in the same place… I have to vibe off his energy,” he explained. He revealed that the longest they have ever spent together in one place was “probably maybe four hours”, and suggested they would need about two weeks side by side to complete it.
The call follows warm words he shared about the dancehall star in the same media run. As reported by Pulse Ghana and GhanaWeb, Mr Eazi described Shatta Wale as “one of the smartest people I know” and revealed that he has never paid him to perform at his shows. “I’ve never paid Shatta to come and perform. Shatta will turn up there and show love,” he said. He added that he returned the favour by staying up until about 4 a.m. to support Shatta Wale’s stadium concert, repeatedly postponing a flight to do so.
The two already have recent history in the studio. Earlier this month, Mr Eazi released “See Something”, a record featuring Shatta Wale alongside DJ Neptune, Medikal and Minz, with an official visualiser on his YouTube channel.
Shatta Wale has not yet publicly responded to the album call, but the clip has been doing the rounds on social media, with fans of both acts eager to see the partnership become a full project. If the pair can find those two weeks, it could be one of the most talked-about cross-border collaborations of the year.
