Sarkodie says more than 55,000 people turned up for the second Kumasi edition of his Rapperholic concert, which took over the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, 24 October and ran into the early hours of Sunday. “Over 55k people showed up for your boy #RapperholicKumasi26 Asanteman Me da ase #SarkNation 🙏🏿,” the rapper wrote in a post on X on Monday, alongside a video recap of the night.
That figure comes from Sarkodie himself, and no official attendance count has been released by the organisers or the venue. What is clear is that the stadium was full. Adomonline reported that Rapperholic26 drew a massive crowd, with the stadium filled to capacity as the show ran through the night and into the morning.
The rapper did not hold the stage alone. According to Adomonline, KiDi, Sista Afia, Lasmid and Mr Drew were among the acts who performed, with Lasmid singled out for thrilling the crowd. Kuami Eugene was also on the bill, while Nana Ama McBrown and Ama Burland were spotted at the venue, McBrown there to show her support for Sarkodie.
This was the second year in a row that Sarkodie has taken his flagship show to the Ashanti Regional capital, following 2025’s Rapperholic: The Homecoming. As Graphic Showbiz reported, thousands braved heavy rain at last year’s edition to watch acts including Shatta Wale, Obrafour, Efya, Kofi Kinaata, Medikal and Kweku Smoke. When he announced this year’s date, Sarkodie’s message to the city was simple: “KUMASI, THIS IS YOUR OWN.”
Since the curtain came down, he has been busy saying thank you on X. He told his SarkNation fans, “I don’t even have the words for you guys!”, and gave a special shout-out to his hometown of Juaso Nkwanta in Asante Akyem “for pulling up to #RapperholicKumasi26 in your numbers”. He also made a wider point about what the event means for the economy. “Rapperholic is bigger than a concert!” he wrote, pointing to tourism, hospitality, transportation, food and fashion, before addressing government and the private sector: “Let’s invest in our creative economy. The potential goes far beyond the stage.”
Not everything went smoothly, though. On Monday, Adomonline reported that Ethan Lawrence, project coordinator at Event Factory, apologised to patrons who struggled to redeem their tickets. Fans were meant to collect wristbands at designated sales outlets before heading to the stadium, but he admitted that “the communication didn’t go around enough or resonate well”. “If there are mistakes or challenges, we sincerely apologise for that. It’s part of the working document for subsequent editions,” he said.
