D’Banj’s account was hacked, he did not change his name – Publicist

D'Banj Following recent widespread backlash for a ‘new name’ that appeared on musician D’Banj’s twitter account, his publicist has issued a statement to clear the air, explaining that the artiste’s name was changed by fraudsters who hacked his twitter account.

She said the name change was not deliberate. The Mo’Hits founder’s name on twitter recently changed from Dapo D’Banj Oyebanjo to Daniel D’Banj Banjo, instantly receiving condemnation from Nigerians who saw it as a betrayal of his Nigerian identity.

Vanessa Amadi, the publicist said in the statement, “Over the past few weeks Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’Banj has experienced a series of vicious hacks on several of his social networking sites including his Facebook page and more recently, his Twitter of which his account name was wrongfully changed.”

“Unfortunately,” the statement noted, “the hackers managed to carry out a number of hurtful, damaging activities directly aimed to deceive D’Banj’s fans with false information.”

Venessa however assured that “With the help of the security teams at both Twitter and Facebook, we have managed to regain full control of the said sites which are currently being operated personally by D’Banj.”

She urged D’Banj’s fans to continue to contact and interact with the artiste, also known as the Kokomaster, on his existing facebook and twitter pages.

“D’Banj apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the hacking and thanks his beloved fans for their continued support,” the statement concluded.

Checking on his twitter page however displayed the name D’banj kokomaster.
