Apolo Imon is known for his diverse and broad approach to art, one of these arts being ‘visual representation of music’ is a field he is equally well-grounded in.
This year has been one of consistency for this chap and he takes it a notch further by releasing the music video to Above. A fluid landscape of channelled Africanism as its foundation, with a subtle story line depicting the elated sensation of dance.
A blend that he achieved too well.
Above is a samfido production directed by Vizu Filmhouse,
written by Apolo, art direction by Fara Farai, cinematography & editing by Checko Peter, director of choreography by Araya Africa & music production by Ransom.
The video features cameos from prominent Ghanaian emcee and OAP Joel Orleans, Ogee the MC and producer, Kuvie. Although this won’t be his first music video, this is the first visual construct from his newly discovered sound, tropical music.
The temperature of the video is warm and poised with colors, African prints and greenery.
DOP and ass director-vizu-Checko Peter, successfully merged an indigenous sound with an ethnic view. From the opening shot to the last shot we are kept captivated not only by the pictures but by the lyricism and his musical approach.
This video in my opinion has sky rocketing potential, appealing to both youngsters and an elderly crowd as well, above is a solid way to launch the year for Apolo Imon. He proclaims to release visuals with the same consistency he does audios, a challenging feat for an independent artiste, however Apolo has shown that the rules can
be bent and the game still played, and so we wait patiently for future releases but at the moment lets watch, share and enjoy this beautiful motion picture by Apolo Imon & Vizu.
