More than 200,000 fans joined Black Sherif’s first Telecel Project X Live session on TikTok, Telecel Ghana said in a statement issued on Friday, 6 November, as reported by GhanaWeb. The virtual session, hosted on the Iron Boy’s TikTok page, mixed live performances, conversation and fan interaction for listeners in Ghana and beyond.
According to Telecel, Black Sherif, popularly known as Blacko, also rewarded about 50 randomly selected fans with cash prizes ranging from GH¢200 to GH¢1,000 through their Telecel Cash wallets. A highlight of the broadcast was the promotional code BLACKO233, which lets Telecel Cash users enjoy two free transactions via the Telecel Play App for money transfers, merchant payments and cash withdrawals until 28 November 2026. Customers need to open the Telecel Play App and enter the code when making a transaction to unlock the offer.
Telecel Ghana’s Head of Brand and Marketing, Andre Tayo, said the turnout underlined both the musician’s pull and the partnership’s potential. “Project X brings together two compelling stories: a bold, youthful and vibrant brand that connects people’s energy and ambitions through safe, secure mobile financial services, and an exceptional, talented, authentic and resilient young Ghanaian whose journey inspires millions every day,” he said in the statement. He added that drawing over 200,000 fans to the first live session shows Blacko’s impact as an artiste, with more experiences planned for customers and fans.
Project X, unveiled in October with Black Sherif as its face, pairs Telecel Cash and the Telecel Play App with exclusive digital experiences built around the artiste’s social platforms. Earlier coverage from outlets such as MyJoyOnline noted that monthly surprises, codes and rewards were planned as part of the year-long run after the Kempinski launch in Accra.
Black Sherif broke through with Kwaku the Traveller and has since stacked major Ghana Music Awards wins while expanding his live footprint at home and abroad. The Telecel sessions give that online following a recurring appointment for music, talk and wallet rewards in one stream.
Telecel said further Project X Live sessions are coming, with more chances for fans to interact with Black Sherif and win rewards while using Telecel Cash.
