Ghanaian-Australian artiste Genesis Owusu has opened a sold-out United States headline tour. The run kicked off on 5 November in Los Angeles and continues through mid-November, supporting his third album, REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE, as reported by BroadwayWorld.
Every date on the itinerary is sold out: Lodge Room in Los Angeles (5 November), Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco (6 November), Hidden Hall in Seattle (8 November), Empty Bottle in Chicago (10 November), and two nights at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn (12 and 13 November).
The tour comes after Owusu tied Tame Impala for the most nominations at the 2026 ARIA Awards, with eight nods including Album of the Year, Best Solo Artist, Best Independent Release, Best Alternative Release and Best Australian Live Act, according to the ARIA announcement. Winners will be crowned on 18 November at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion. His single “Stampede” is also featured in Apple’s global iPhone 18 campaign.
REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE has drawn strong reviews from outlets including Pitchfork, NME, NPR Music and The Guardian Australia. Owusu, who has Ghanaian heritage and built his career in Australia, previously ranked at the top of Rolling Stone Australia’s best Australian albums of the 2020s so far with his debut Smiling With No Teeth, and has played Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza and a sold-out Sydney Opera House date with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
His summer standalone single “Human Again” sits in the same reflective lane as the album, with a video that mixes baroque imagery and modern European streets. Together with the iPhone campaign placement for “Stampede”, it has kept Owusu visible well beyond the Australian charts.
For Ghanaian listeners following diaspora talent, the sold-out US run underlines how far Owusu’s experimental blend of funk, punk and rap has travelled since that debut.
