TV3’s long-running music talent show Mentor returns for its 15th season this Sunday, 1 November, with the premiere set for 8pm on TV3, as the station counts down to another search for Ghana’s next breakout voice.
TV3 confirmed the date in a post on X, telling viewers to “get ready for an exciting new season filled with fun, thrilling moments, unforgettable experiences, and so much more”. The accompanying poster lists the premiere for Sunday, 1 November at 8pm.
Ahead of the launch, 3News looked back at the show’s history. Mentor was created to discover vocal talent and help aspiring musicians grow through competition, coaching and live performances, with contestants judged on their singing, stage presence and connection with the audience while viewers vote for their favourites.
The roll of honour is a long one. Erico won Season 3 in 2007 and Kesse took Season 4 in 2009. In 2013, Roselyn Akosua Mantey, known as Akos, became the first female winner, walking away with a Hyundai Accent car and GH¢7,000.
The show has not run without interruption. After a six-year break, it returned in 2019 as Mentor Reloaded, with Media General’s management saying the comeback followed repeated requests from viewers. Optional King won that edition, taking home a two-bedroom house and GH¢50,000 worth of airtime.
Since then, Kweku Bany (2020), DSL (Mentor X, 2021), Too Spyce (2022), Byno Ayoni (2023) and Romeo Swag (Season 13, 2025) have all lifted the title. Most recently, Kwaku Shai won Season 14, branded The Breakout Edition, in January 2026 after 13 weeks of performances and eliminations, earning a prize package valued at GH¢120,000.
Now the bigger question is whether Season 15 can produce an act who turns the TV spotlight into a lasting career. As 3News put it, winning Mentor may be a defining moment, but the real achievement lies in what follows, and viewers will be watching for the next voice capable of making a lasting impression on Ghanaian music.
