Ghanaians in the United Kingdom will celebrate Ghana's 55th Independence anniversary in a grand fashion with a massive line-up of musical concerts and other cultural events, courtesy Akwaaba UK.
With the global acknowledgement of currently the most populous dance craze, Azonto, the club tour will witness electrifying performances from arguably the finest of Azonto artistes from Ghana; Keche, Gasmilla and comedian now turned musician, Funny Face. “This is a great time for Ghana music and we all need to help push the industry in our own ways and I urge the Ghanaian community not to be left out in the fun. Aside Gasmilla, Keche and Funny Face other supporting artistes are Fuse ODG, Tinchy Stryder and Donaeo.” Elliott further assured celebrants of adequate security to ensure their safety and encouraged Ghanaians to wear traditional cloths during the period to promote Ghanaian cultures and invited other nationals to join in the celebration. The Ghana 55th Independence Celebrations UK Club Tour will come alive in five major cities in the United Kingdom starting from London's Moonlighting Club on the 2nd March, 2012, then the Chicago Nite Club in Luton on 6th March, 2012. The tour continues at the Escusha Club in Nottingham on the 7th March, 2012, then stops at The Coronet Club in London (Abacus in London) on the 9th & 17th March, 2012, before the final gig on 24th March, 2012 at The Post Club in Birmingham. Another highlight of the celebrations will be the recognition of Hiplife legend Reggie Rockstone with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the development and commercialization of the Ghana Music Industry. Also, Reggie Rockstone will be a special guest for the Independence celebration and will make a surprise appearance at some of the Club Tours.
