Several of Ghana’s creative minds converged at the African Regent Hotel on Friday April 16 to generate buzz for the upcoming FIFA 2010 World Cup, in South Africa and to celebrate the Ghana Black Star’s second successive qualification to the world finals.
“Ghana Goes 2010″ was simply a night of delightful poetry, inspiring music and funky-fresh fashion.
According to one of the co-organizers, Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah of MAKSI Clothing, ‘Ghana Goes 2010’ was organized to celebrate Ghana’s successful entry into the World Cup and to create a sense of hype and excitement around the impending world cup from a creative point of view. So poets like Mutombo, DK Osei Yaw and Crystal performed specially written pieces for the world cup. Also, musicians like Wanlov the Kubolor, Macho Rapper, Scizo and King Ayisoba performed a medley of tunes which were inspiring, positive and energizing.
A special fashion show by MAKSI Clothing and Nallem Clothing showed off special World Cup collections produced by the two fashion houses alongside their regular line. With such fun and excitement under one roof it was not surprising to hear a guest exclaim: ‘This is better than the GMA’
The event was organized by MAKSI Clothing, Mi Prime Entertainment and Pidgen Music. The organizers intend to run subsequent events until the World Cup is over. Go Ghana…Go!!!
